Larger breasts without surgery! Bigger bust in ten weeks guaranteed! This is the kind of claim you expect to find in a tabloid ad, but this time, certified doctors are behind a new system that promises to non-surgically enhance breasts. It is called the BRAVA® Breast Enhancement and Shaping System, and doctors involved claim that women who are an AA to B cup and want to grow one breast size can benefit from Brava. That is of course if they have ten hours a day for ten weeks to dedicate sleeping with a dome like bra that applies a "gentle and sustained tugging motion" to your breasts.
Dr. Roger Khouri, a Harvard trained plastic surgeon and past professor at Washington University School of Medicine who invented the system, recognises that at first blush, people may want to laugh off the system: "We are trying to overcome the chuckle factor." Dr. Khouri says that he developed the system over 8 years: "To date, we have 12 patents because the technology is so advanced and novel."
But even with the patents, the product still does not have FDA approval despite a July Reuters story, published in dozens of news outlets, which had mistakenly said the device had won FDA approval. The FDA has given Brava the rights to market the product.
And nothwitstanding the press in ABC's "Good Morning America," "NBC Nightly News," Telemundo, Glamour magazine, the Miami Herald and dozens of other TV, radio and print sources, a growing number of women report disappointment with results and problems with the device's technology.
Some say they have developed scars, spontaneous lactation and other physical problems. A false advertising complaint false has been filed with the Southeast Florida Better Business Bureau and some women say they are consulting attorneys.
According to the manufacturers, Brava LLC, the system gently tugs and pulls on the breast, stimulating tissue cell growth and, when used for a minimum of ten hours a day over a ten week period, gives the wearer an average increase of one full cup size.
